Where’s the Ponies, Daddy?

I always look for great image possibilities. What does that even mean? Here is the perfect definition from a visual perspective. That’s my son walking with his 14-month-old daughter at Santa Anita Race Track. I remember when he was that age, and I always wanted him to hang out doing the things I liked. In a world full of electronic distractions, He and I were always doing outdoor activities. I was a baseball junkie, and he wanted to go with me everywhere there was someone running and sliding. Now he rarely goes to the track, but since Emma had only been walking for a few weeks, he invited me to go with him so she could see the horses all snorting and frisky in the paddocks.

From day one of actually using shoes, she wanted to walk on her own. So as I trailed them with the baby gear, this image presented itself. Backlit silhouette and Emma looking so independent, needing no help getting around, while Daddy just proudly walks next to her. I love the smooth floor and the strong shadows created by indirect light. I’ve always said that great images show up when you least expect them.
