Read the Signs, Lady!

This image was taken at the Balboa Lake complex in Van Nuys, Ca. I usually go there when it overcast or at sunset because the light is always pretty good for photography during those times. Also it’s a great place to observe all kinds of people and wildlife. Senior citizens love it here because there’s amazing walking paths that weave in and out of the area. This day, I made it to the lake later than I normally like to get there because I just finished a round of golf with my son at nearby Woodly Lakes Golf Course, and thought I might get lucky with some interesting people shots.

This lady, if you notice the sign reads, "Don't feed the ducks." Like, can you read, lady? Okay, I do a whole series of comical images from this place. I'm not going to go into a big rant about feeding the birds because I really don’t care if she feeds the ducks. There’s probably a hundred people all around the lake feeding the ducks (BTW, just for accuracy sake, those birds are called Coots), that’s why there’s so many birds there. In fact the shot title could be “Old Coot feeds young Coots.”

Frankly, most of the images that I'm showing here are taken within 15 miles of my home. So it's not like you've got to go to a special photo venue to get good images. Experiencing good photograhy opportunities is really easier than you might think, even in bright sunlight on a cloudless day, at 2 pm.
